The Atlanta Urban Debate League is committed to providing excellent debate education programs, services, and opportunities to diverse students, educators, and members of the community!
Registration for tournaments is done through Speechwire. For each tournament, debaters and judges can be added through a school account maintained by the head coach. On the day of the tournament, Speechwire will be used to release pairings for each round, which will be available at live.speechwire.com.
A school account is required to register for tournaments. The first step is to check if an account already exists for your school and create one if it does not.
Go to speechwire.com/login.
Click on “Create account” and select your school’s state, then click on “Next step”.
On the next page, there will be a dropdown menu with all schools with pre-existing Speechwire accounts
If an account exists for your school but you are unable to change the account information for some reason, click “Cancel” and email account@speechwire.com to let them know what the correct current head coach information (name, email, school/team name) should be.
If an account does NOT exist for your school, fill in the school name, account type (likely school), and account level (middle or high school), then click on “Next step”
The next page will ask for your name and email and require the completion of a Captcha test. Once you have finished these, click “Create account” and the password will be sent to the provided email.
Students will also need Speechwire accounts before the day of the tournament. To create student accounts:

Click on “Team roster” under “Head coach tools”.
Provide the student’s name, name pronunciation (optional), and an email address, then click “Add member”.
An account activation link will be sent to the provided email; make sure students know to activate their accounts!
