Advanced Debate Skills

This section of the coach curriculum covers what advanced debaters (middle school varsity and high school open division debaters) should learn. “What Is a Varsity Debater?” explains the difference between an intermediate and advanced debater, along with what to consider when determining whether a student is ready to compete in MS varsity or HS open. “What Is an Advocacy?” introduces concepts fundamental to understanding the advanced negative off-case positions of the counterplan and kritik. Producing evidence explains what kind of evidence advanced debaters are allowed to use and how to properly format it.
